• Altech Batteries Ltd. (ASX: ATC) is introducing the CERENERGY® Solid State (SCSS) Battery, a solid-state sodium-based battery that offers several advantages over lithium-ion batteries, including a wider temperature range, longer lifespan, and the absence of critical metals like lithium, cobalt, and graphite, making it a more sustainable and cost-effective option for grid storage applications.
• Altech’s CERENERGY® battery has been developed through a joint venture between Altech (75%) and Fraunhofer (25%), with a planned 120 MWh battery plant in Saxony, Germany, set to commence operations in 2027, and the potential for further gigafactory expansions by 2030.
• The company has received the highest ‘Dark Green’ rating from S&P Global Ratings, indicating its long-term sustainability, and has secured three letters of intent for offtake agreements covering 100% of its production, demonstrating strong market demand for this innovative grid storage solution.
